The Pubs of York – 30th Birthday Celebrations
Over the last decade or so I, like many football fans, have travelled around the country watching our chosen team. Over that period of time it is fair to say I have visited some real shit holes! But it is always a real pleasure when you get to experience a town or city that is lovely and has so much going for it, York was one of these places, possibly even the nicest place I have visited with Leyton Orient. The fixture Gods were good to me this year, York away fell a few days

#BeerBuddies – Trevor Jeffery, Billericay Brewing
#BeerBuddies is a new part of my blog that I am putting together containing interviews with people that I have met either online or in person via sharing the same passion about beer. My first #BeerBuddies is with Trevor Jeffery of Billericay Brewing, when I first heard there was a brewery and bottle shop in Billericay I was over the moon that finally somewhere close and accessible to me would be making and selling decent beer. I first tried Mayflower Gold in The Alehouse in C

The 30th Pig’s Ear beer and Cider Festival 2013
**warning this post features extreme stereotypes** Real ale, craft beer, new beer, old beer, cask, keg etc etc etc it can all get a bit confusing and people can really get picky about one or the other! Me, like many things I life I like to have two categories ‘good’ and ‘bad’! I love real ale, I love craft beer, I have had terrible ‘real ale’ and I have had terrible ‘craft beer’… Good beer and bad beer! I feel I am slightly stuck in limbo land sometimes when trying to place m

Leyton Technical Pub, Leyton London
I have to admit the Olympics passed me by, I didn’t catch the bug like most the nation did and I didn’t go to any of the events. I watched a few things on the telly but nothing I wouldn’t watch any ways like the football, boxing and basketball. To be honest while everyone was loving the stadium I couldn’t help but feel a bit of worry and anger towards the stadium with it’s on going battles of what it will be used for after the games. But one thing that I can say I am happy ab

Billericay Town FC and Lions beer festival
Beer + football = very happy half pint gentleman, this probably is what has kept me at orient for all these years as the quality of beer out does the quality of football most weeks! Billericay town is my local non league club which I have seen a few times over the last few seasons, including breaking away from orients terrible goal drought in search of a goal fest only to witness their first goaless draw in two years! The stand out beer for me was RCH Brewery Old Slug Porter

Farmers Ales – Puck’s Folly
My girlfriend first bought this beer on our first trip to The Essex Beer Shop and we tried it over the weekend and loved it so I thought it rude not to buy another one when I returned to The Essex Beer Shop tonight. Puck’s Folly was crowned Golden Ale of East Anglia in 2009 and is brewed by Farmers Ales in their stable Brewery behind the Blue Boar hotel in Maldon Essex. It pours a nice clear golden colour with tiny carbonated bubbles raising to the top of the glass to a nice

Billericay Brewing – Mayflower Gold
It would be rude not to have the Mayflower Gold first out of my buys from the newly open Essex Beer Shop. Most of my teenage to adult life has been spent visiting Billericay for its pubs as it is one stop on the train for me and where I live doesn’t have much to offer in the way of drinking places at all, so when I first read about Billericay Brewing I was truly excited at the the thought of a beer from the place I grew up drinking. Mayflower Gold is an American Pale Ale styl
